Introduction:
A HAZID workshop is a structured, multidisciplinary review conducted at the early stages of a project to systematically identify potential hazards and major accident scenarios. It brings together experienced personnel from various disciplines – including process, operations, safety, and engineering – to evaluate risks associated with the facility, activities, and surrounding environment.
Purpose:
The main objectives of the HAZID Study include the following:
- Identification of potential hazardous events, both internal and external, that can endanger personnel, assets and environment;
- Evaluate the causes and potential consequences of all identified potential hazards; and
- Evaluate the adequacy of safety measures provided, and make recommendations as required to reduce the risks.
Outcomes
- Hazard register with ranked risks
- Early risk mitigation measures
- Input to design basis and further safety studies
