Introduction

CFD Fire Modelling is an advanced, physics-based simulation used to analyze fire behavior and its impact within complex Oil & Gas facilities.
Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), the study captures detailed flame characteristics, heat distribution, smoke movement, and interaction with surrounding structures – providing a realistic representation of fire scenarios beyond traditional simplified methods.

Purpose

  • Simulate fire scenarios such as jet fires, pool fires under realistic conditions
  • Evaluate flame geometry, temperature distribution, and heat exposure to equipment and structures
  • Assess the influence of wind, congestion, and layout on fire behavior
  • Identify potential escalation risks and affected areas
  • Support design of fire protection systems and mitigation measures
  • Provide detailed inputs for safety studies (e.g., FERA, ESSA/EERA, Fire & Gas Mapping)

Outcomes

  • Detailed temperature and thermal impact profiles within the facility
  • Identification of high-risk zones and escalation potential
  • Assessment of structural and equipment exposure to heat
  • Inputs for fire protection design (e.g., passive fire protection, water deluge systems)
  • Support for layout optimization and risk mitigation strategies
  • Integration with dispersion, FERA, and evacuation studies
  • High-quality visual outputs and structured report for clear communication and decision-making
