KOTO Engineering Company Limited (KOTO) is proud to have successfully delivered a comprehensive HAZOP training and revalidation project for the Phu My Fertilizer Plant – one of Vietnam’s key industrial facilities. This project reflects KOTO’s commitment to enhancing process safety, operational reliability, and risk management across complex process industries.
The scope of work included two main components: conducting a HAZOP training program for key personnel and facilitating a full HAZOP revalidation study covering all major plant units. These units included the Utilities Unit, Ammonia & CO₂ Recovery (CRU) Unit, NPK Unit, and Urea & UFC85 Unit, representing a wide range of process technologies and operational interfaces.
The HAZOP training sessions were tailored to equip the client’s engineering, operations, and safety teams with a strong understanding of HAZOP methodology, risk assessment principles, and best practices aligned with international standards. Through interactive workshops and practical case studies, participants gained valuable insights into identifying process deviations, evaluating safeguards, and formulating effective recommendations.
Following the training phase, KOTO’s experienced facilitators led a structured HAZOP revalidation study over a period of five months. This involved close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including process engineers, operators, maintenance personnel, and HSE specialists. The study systematically reviewed existing design assumptions, operational practices, and safeguard effectiveness to ensure that all credible hazards and operability issues were identified and addressed.
Throughout the project, KOTO emphasized a structured, transparent, and collaborative approach, ensuring that all discussions, findings, and recommendations were clearly documented and traceable. The outcome was a comprehensive set of actionable recommendations aimed at improving process safety, enhancing operability, and strengthening risk control measures across the plant.
This successful engagement highlights KOTO’s capability to deliver high-quality process safety studies and training programs, even for large-scale and complex facilities.
