Introduction

A Noise Study is a systematic assessment of noise levels generated by equipment, processes, and operations within Oil & Gas facilities.
It evaluates both occupational noise exposure for personnel and environmental noise impact on surrounding areas. Using predictive modelling and/or field measurements, the study identifies high-noise zones and assesses compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Purpose

  • Assess noise levels across the facility during normal and peak operations
  • Identify areas exceeding occupational exposure limits
  • Evaluate potential environmental noise impact beyond facility boundaries
  • Protect personnel from long-term hearing damage and health risks
  • Support design of noise control measures and layout optimization
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company noise standards

Outcomes

  • Noise contour maps identifying high-noise zones and exposure levels
  • Assessment of personnel exposure against permissible limits
  • Identification of critical noise sources and contributors
  • Defined mitigation measures (e.g., silencers, enclosures, acoustic barriers)
  • Recommendations for layout improvements and operational controls
  • Hearing protection requirements and zoning classification
  • Inputs to HSE management plans and regulatory compliance
