HAZID/HAZOP/SIL for Vent Boom Replacement and Capacity Restoration of Gas Lift System on RBDP-A Platform, Blocks 01 & 02, Vietnam (12/2025)

KOTO Engineering Company Limited is proud to have been awarded a contract to facilitate HAZID, HAZOP and SIL workshops for the project titled “Provision of Vent Boom Replacement and Capacity Restoration of Gas Lift System on RBDP-A Platform, Blocks 01 & 02, Offshore Vietnam.” This project underscores KOTO’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality process safety services for offshore oil and gas developments.

The Blocks 01 & 02 development, operated by Petrovietnam – Blocks 01 & 02, is located in the Mekong Basin, approximately 155 km offshore from Vung Tau. The development includes multiple offshore facilities supporting key oil fields such as Ruby, Pearl, Topaz, and Diamond. The infrastructure comprises several wellhead platforms – including RBDP-A, RBDP-B, PLDP-A, TPDP-A, and DMDP-A – along with the FPSO Ruby II, forming a complex and highly integrated production network.

The project scope focuses on upgrading the vent system and restoring gas lift capacity on the RBDP-A platform, which plays a central role in processing and routing hydrocarbons. Crude oil from surrounding platforms is transported via subsea pipelines to RBDP-A and subsequently to the FPSO, while a network of gas lift pipelines and compressors supports production optimization across the field.

Under this contract, KOTO facilitated structured HAZID, HAZOP and SIL workshops involving multidisciplinary teams from the operator, contractor, and stakeholders. The sessions systematically identified potential hazards, assessed process deviations, and evaluated the adequacy of existing and proposed safeguards associated with the vent boom replacement and gas lift system modifications.

With extensive experience in offshore facilities and brownfield modifications, KOTO applied internationally recognized methodologies to ensure a thorough and efficient review process. Particular attention was given to interface risks, operational continuity, and the integration of new systems with existing infrastructure.

The outcome of this engagement will provide a robust foundation for safe design, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance, supporting the reliable and efficient operation of the facility.

This project further demonstrates KOTO Engineering’s capability to deliver specialized process safety solutions for complex offshore environments, reinforcing our position as a trusted partner in process safety and engineering consulting services.
