HAZID/HAZOP for Hai Lang LNG Project (FEED) – Phase 1 (11/2025)

KOTO Engineering Company Limited is honored to have been awarded a contract to facilitate HAZID and HAZOP workshops for the Hai Lang LNG Project – Phase 1, a major energy development in Vietnam. This engagement further strengthens KOTO’s position as a trusted partner in delivering high-quality process safety services for large-scale and complex projects.

The Hai Lang LNG Project is being jointly developed by a consortium comprising T&T Group, Hanwha Energy Corporation, Korea Gas Corporation, and Korea Southern Power Co., Ltd. Located in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam, the project is designed with an estimated capacity of 1,500 MW and is expected to supply power for a period of 25 years, contributing significantly to Vietnam’s long-term energy security.

The project scope includes a 1,500 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant comprising two generating units, an LNG terminal with a regasification capacity of 1.2 MTPA, and associated jetty and pipeline systems capable of handling LNG carriers ranging from 120,000 to 180,000 m³. The FEED and project development activities are being led by a consortium of AFRY, KOGAS-Tech, and Yooshin Engineering Corporation.

Under this contract, KOTO Engineering facilitated structured HAZID and HAZOP workshops involving multidisciplinary teams from the Client and Consultant organizations. The sessions systematically identified potential hazards, assess operational risks, and evaluate the adequacy of design safeguards across all major systems, including LNG receiving, storage, regasification, and power generation units.

Leveraging extensive experience in LNG, power, and offshore projects, KOTO applied internationally recognized methodologies and best practices to ensure a comprehensive and efficient review process. The workshops has been conducted in a collaborative environment, enabling alignment among stakeholders and ensuring that all critical safety considerations were addressed during the FEED stage.

The outcome of this engagement provided a robust basis for safe design, risk reduction, and regulatory compliance, supporting the successful execution of this strategically important project.

This project demonstrates KOTO Engineering’s capability to support large-scale energy infrastructure developments and reinforces our commitment to delivering excellence in process safety and engineering consulting services.
